So I was feeling a little crafty when I got contacted about a pillow for an upcoming Fort Campbell Basket Auction….
I am trying to get away from stuff that looks incredibly “Army”-I like to have mementos from everywhere, but I really wish there were more things out there that didn’t look like they came from Clothing Sales, you know? Things that don’t make my living room look like a place that my husband’s office stopped by and threw up in.
Fort Campbell has a special place in my heart. My son #2 was born there. Our first house was purchased there. We made some great friends and had fun times. So many good memories! So I wanted this pillow to be special.
I was talking to the hubs about my idea to make it “subtly 101st.” Like no Screaming Eagle on it AT ALL, and yet those in the know would know exactly what it was, and those not in the know would just think it was a cool decoration.
Well, he disagreed.
Him: You can’t do that. People expect the icon. They love the icon.
Me: Maybe people are tired of the expected?
Him: They aren’t. You have to put it on there. Trust me on this.
Okay, I do trust him.
But I still think I’m right.
So I caved and put it on there, but ever so subtly. If you look carefully, you can find the Screaming Eagle. And if you think it’s too much, you can easily snip it right off.
If it’s not subtle enough for you.
